What do you do if you have billions of dollars from starting a successful tech company and don’t like traditional schools? Open your own!
I’ve written extensively about how traditional schools are outdated and don’t teach kids important skills they need to be successful in life, such as critical thinking and financial literacy. Turns out, some tech billionaires agree with me.
There are a lot of reasons why people don’t like traditional schools. Instead of students learning how to think for themselves and be creative, students have to fill out worksheets and stress out over tests several times a year.
They’re forced to memorize things that most of them will never use in the real world, like the first 25 digits of pi or the entire periodic table. (I’m having flashbacks of all the C’s and D’s I got in high school math and science.)
A lot needs to be done to improve our education system, and these tech CEOs are investing millions into doing just that by opening schools of their own.
